Niclas Füllkrug is said to have been left somewhat irritated by Borussia Dortmund’s decision to sign Serhou Guirassy, but is seemingly not considering a move away from the club at the moment.

Borussia Dortmund are set to sign Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart with the 28 year old expected to be the club’s first-choice striker next season. This has reportedly left the club’s current top striker feeling frustrated. According to Sky Sport, Niclas Füllkrug was not best pleased with BVB's signing of Guirassy, and is keen for some clarity on what his role will be next season.

The report also adds that Füllkrug is currently not considering making a move away from Borussia Dortmund, while maintaining that a transfer is not yet out of the question with VfB Stuttgart quietly hopeful of signing him as their replacement for Guirassy.

Borussia Dortmund’s plan is for Guirassy and Füllkrug to compete for a spot in the starting XI next season, with Nuri Sahin expected to go with a one-striker formation. Youssoufa Moukoko and Sebastien Haller are both reportedly free to leave the club this summer.

Both Guirassy and Füllkrug are coming off strong seasons. The former led Stuttgart to a second place finish in the Bundesliga by scoring 28 goals in 28 league games, while the latter played a key role in BVB’s run to the UEFA Champions League final. The German international ended the season with 16 goals and ten assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for BVB.
