Salih Özcan has no plans to leave Borussia Dortmund at the moment, amid rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

Borussia Dortmund appear to be in the hunt for a new defensive midfielder this summer, and the future of Salih Özcan has been put into doubt as a result. The Turkey international has attracted the interest of several Süper Lig clubs in recent months. But he is not thinking about a move away from BVB at the moment, with two years left on his current contract.

“I have a two-year contract with Borussia Dortmund. I think I will stay for two more years,” Özcan said in an interview with IHA. “I don't know what will happen in the coming years, only God knows that. But as I said, I have a contract for 2 more years, we’ll see what happens after that.”

Özcan joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Köln for a cut-price fee of around five million euros in 2022, and enjoyed a fairly decent debut season with the club. His sophomore season at the Westfalenstadion proved to be more difficult, as he was limited to a back-up role and was unable to make the desired impact when called upon.

The 26 year old, who made 34 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions in the recently concluded season, also reflected on the campaign. “We reached the Champions League final. The Bundesliga didn't go that well, but overall we are very happy as a team. It would have been better if we had won the Champions League. But we're grateful that we got to experience that.”

Salih Özcan is now looking forward to representing Turkey at the European Championship, and will have special motivation for their group stage games against Georgia and Portugal as they will take place at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. “Especially in the first two matches, my goal is to win against Georgia and Portugal in Dortmund. The yellow wall will be red and white. That's an advantage for us,” Özcan said.
