Borussia Dortmund are looking to get the band back together with Sven Bender in line to join Nuri Sahin as part of Edin Terzic's coaching staff.

Nuri Sahin is leaving his role as manager of Turkish club Antalyaspor to make a spectacular return to Borussia Dortmund. Another former BVB player is now being lined up to join the first-team coaching staff under Edin Terzic.

According to BILD, Borussia Dortmund made an approach to the DFB a few days ago to sign Sven Bender. The two-time Bundesliga title winner - who spent eight years with BVB - is currently a coach of the Germany U-16s squad.

The tabloid adds that it was Terzic's suggestion to bring the former Borussia Dortmund midfielders back on board, as he realized that fresh voices were needed in the dressing room.

Borussia Dortmund are reeling from a poor first half of the season in the Bundesliga, and will hope to turn things around after the winter break. Edin Terzic managed to keep his job as head coach amid plenty of criticism, and his coaching staff will now be boosted by the arrivals of Nuri Sahin and Sven Bender. The hope is that their returns to Borussia Dortmund will help lift some of the pressure off Terzic.

Both Bender and Sahin were part of the Borussia Dortmund squad that won the Bundesliga title in 2011. The former midfielders made a combined total of 498 appearances for the Black and Yellows. They are now set to be reunited on the BVB bench, with their first Bundesliga assignment scheduled for January 13 against SV Darmstadt.
