The big talking point ahead of the game is squad rotation. Germany have no injury issues to report, but there are a number of players facing the threat of a yellow card suspension.

Julian Nagelsmann has made it clear that he has no plans to rotate, which means that we will likely see a very similar starting XI take to the pitch at the Waldstadion.

Jamal Musiala will be determined to continue his fantastic run of form, having scored in Germany’s first two games at Euro 2024. Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz will also have a key role to play against the strong Switzerland defence, led by former Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji.

The battle between Toni Kroos and Grant Xhaka in the middle of the park promises to be a fascinating one. The Bayer Leverkusen star will be crucial to his side’s hopes of pulling off an upset against Germany.

Switzerland have a strong recent record against Germany, and will hope to bring a halt to the Euro 2024 hosts’ momentum.

Xherdan Shaqiri will look to build on the wonder goal he scored against Scotland, and will likely be joined in the Switzerland attack by FC Augsburg forward Ruben Vargas. BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel will start on the bench, as he is behind Yann Sommer in the pecking order.
