Much has been made of Borussia Dortmund’s academy losing a bit of it's local identity and association with the Ruhr valley. These assertions are often made following academy transfers like Thierry Fidjeu Tazemeta and Luca Regianni. While signing top youth internationals for only academy compensation is a smart business move, some fans may worry that the club is losing it's connections to the community.
Borussia Dortmund have done much to emphasize quality while attempting to maintain its connection to the community through its academy.
