Borussia Dortmund comfortably dispatched Regionalliga side Phönix Lübeck 4-1, with Waldemar Anton and Julien Duranville opening their goalscoring accounts for the club.

Emre Can and Julian Brandt were also on target for Borussia Dortmund as they began the Nuri Sahin era with a comfortable win. It wasn't the best of performances by the Black and Yellows, but they still claimed a resounding win and booked their place in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

As expected, Borussia Dortmund dominated proceedings from the very first whistle and had close to 90% of possession. Pascal Groß made his presence felt in just the third minute as he set up Waldemar Anton for the opening goal with a pinpoint corner.

Can then doubled Borussia Dortmund's lead at the half-hour mark from the penalty spot after Karim Adeyemi was brought down inside the box. Just before half-time, Brandt made it 3-0 after being played through by a delightful long ball from Groß.

Phönix Lübeck pulled a goal back in the 55th minute, with Obinna Jοhnson Iloka taking full advantage of a lapse in concentration among the BVB defence and midfield.

But Duranville restored Borussia Dortmund's three-goal lead, finding the back of the net with great composure after getting on the end of Yan Couto's through ball. It was the talented Belgian's first goal since joining Borussia Dortmund from Anderlecht last year.

In the end, it was a comprehensive win for Borussia Dortmund, who started their season by avoiding an upset. Next up for BVB is the start of their Bundesliga season against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Westfalenstadion.
