Signing a defensive midfielder

One of Borussia Dortmund's most significant needs for the summer transfer window is to bring in a pivot number six, particularly one who can support the team's build-up and provide fluidity to circulate the ball into attacking areas.

Despite being named captain by Edin Terzić at the start of the season, Emre Can has not been able to make the desired impact, with his lack of effectiveness in the build-up play a major issue. Salih Özcan has also not been able to show that he can be the first-choice.

On the other hand, the promising Kjell Wätjen showed some bright moments on his first-team debut. However, he is more of a number eight and his promise does not mask the necessity of a starting caliber defensive midfielder.

An excellent option for Borussia Dortmund to potentially explore could be Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord, who may just be the missing piece this midfield needs.
