Pre-Match Analysis: An important away leg awaits Borussia Dortmund at Lille

After a draw at home in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League against Lille, the Black and Yellows will look to improve on the result away from home.

Home games have usually been a great place for European nights for BVB, but the team failed to build on previous weeks of good performances in the league. After Borussia Dortmund swept Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in the playoffs by 3-nil on aggregate, many spectators believed Niko Kovač’s team would have an easy game against LOSC Lille. However, last week’s first-leg game turned out to be different. 

The Black-and-Yellows draw 1-1 with the French side and will now go to Lille with no advantage from the Signal Iduna Park. While BVB will head into this matchup following a 1-0 home defeat in the Bundesliga to Augsburg this past weekend, Lille registered a 1-0 win in Ligue 1 over Montpellier and, therefore, will come into this game in better spirits.
