Pre-Match Analysis: Borussia Dortmund faces Werder Bremen at home to wake up from season nightmare

The Black-and-Yellows come back home in the Bundesliga following three in a row away losses in 2025. After Sahin's departure, BVB has the chance to bounce back in front of the Yellow Wall.

Jamie Gittens & Karim Adeyemi: Gittens and Adeyemi are my projected wingers to start against Werder Bremen on Saturday. With Karim's deal with Napoli seemingly close, his presence or not in this match is another factor to keep an eye on. Their skill set will be key for this matchup once their dribbling abilities are necessary to try to break Bremen's backline. Their low crosses will also be relevant to finding Guirassy or anyone else at the back post. Bremen will likely position their blocks very low in defensive phases, so the wingers will have a hard time consistently going to the byline. Therefore, their creativity will be crucial to breaking the deadlock.

Jens Stage & Marvin Ducksch: With seven league goals, Jens Stage is Bremen's top goal scorer this season. He also has good numbers on progressive passes received and touches at the opposition's box, making him a constant goal threat. Ducksch, on the other hand, is mainly known for his height and provides constant danger and aerial domination to any defensive line. With five goals and seven assists this season, BVB will need to keep him quiet if they want to have a shot at winning.
