As much as I wish Dortmund would take a nerveless three points from this match, this season has taught me something: You should lower your expectations, especially for home matches. Even though my BVB heart tells me that Dortmund will find a way to break through their poor momentum, my analyst side does not allow me to be fooled once again. Mainz is one of the most prominent sides in the league this year, with outstanding numbers of 44 goals scored and 28 conceded, averaging 1.7 goals per match. Only league leaders Bayern Münich have conceded fewer goals (24) than Mainz.
So, I thought it would be better to settle for something in the middle. I believe this match will be an incredibly tough one, even compared to the previous encounters between these two teams. I, therefore, believe Borussia Dortmund will not break their negative streak, as I settled for a 1-1 home draw. Hopefully, this prediction will backfire, and BVB will indeed prove me wrong with a win.
