Match Predictions

The race for European qualification is still very much on for both teams. Leipzig are only three points behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt, while Dortmund have a bit further to climb, trailing by seven. It's not entirely out of the question that we see some tired legs out there, considering a recent report by BILD that the fitness levels within the squad are not up to par. Unlike Dortmund, Leipzig have had a full week of training, uninterrupted by travel.
This matchup has the potential to get extremely hectic. The last nine meetings between BVB and RB have averaged around 4 goals scored per game. In addition, Leipzig have kept the most clean sheets in the Bundesliga (along with Bayern) with 12. A Marco Rose-led team brings pressing and intensity, and Dortmund will have to match that, physically and mentally, if they want to improve their poor record away from home and make up some ground in the table. Trying to predict this game for Dortmund (which seems impossible these days), I can unfortunately envision another inexplicable drop-off in sharpness from BVB and the game ending 3-1 for RB.
