Pre-Match Analysis: Dortmund travels to Bologna in critical Champions League Clash

Borussia Dortmund has struggled in 2025, losing each of their three opening matches. Nuri Sahin knows that anything less than a win against Bologna may cost him his job.

On paper, Borussia Dortmund should be the superior squad, but based on the Black-and-Yellow’s current form, especially away from home, this is going to be a challenging task. Bologna is no pushover team despite their poor form in the Champions League.

This match will be a critical test for both Nuri Sahin and his players. A win may see Sahin retain his coaching position while a loss will likely seal his fate. Based on the body language and tactical systems used in the match against Frankfurt, I can’t imagine Dortmund will be successful against Bologna. I predict a 3-1 loss.
