Jamie Gittens’ time in Black and Yellow is nearing its end, with his rumored departure looming ever closer. While Gittens was the in-form player under Nuri Sahin, he fell out of Niko Kovac’s favor, scoring just one goal since the Croat’s arrival. With a departure expected soon, it seems multiple clubs are interested.

UK news outlet, Mirror is reporting that in addition to Chelsea FC and Arsenal, now Newcastle United has entered the race for Jamie Gittens. Borussia Dortmund are expected to entertain offers in the range of 50-60 million euros, but if there is competition, Sebastian Kehl and company may have the upper hand in negotiation with these Premier League powerhouses who certainly have the money. When asked about a potential transfer, Sebastian Kehl had this to say:

"“There’s definitely a market for him. He’s a very exciting player. We’ll be having discussions soon. If offers come in, we’ll have to deal with them.”"

Jamie Gittens, at just 20-years-old, was expected to be a breakout star, and Mirror’s report calls his season “sensational,” but many BVB fans might be content with Jamie’s transfer away, as his late-season demeanor indicated he may have been ‘checked-out’ of the team already. If Jamie no longer wants to be in Dortmund, then a transfer benefits all parties involved.

Borussia Dortmund are expected to rebuild their midfield this summer with recent links to players like Rayan Cherki and Jobe Bellingham already a topic of discussion. When referencing the futures of midfield players like Jamie Gittens, Salih Ozcan, Giovanni Reyna, and Julian Brandt, Kehl added:

"“We want to reduce wages. That said, it’s possible we’ll continue with some of these players. But some may no longer be part of the BVB squad next season.”"
