Serhou Guirassy was in fine form for the Guinea national team on Saturday evening as he scored a hat-trick to fire them past Ethiopia in the AFCON qualifiers.
Guinea boosted their hopes of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday thanks to a stunning first-half hat-trick from Serhou Guirassy. The Borussia Dortmund striker was at his incisive best in front of goal as he continued his excellent run of form.
Serhou Guirassy has nine goals in seven games since returning from injury
Guirassy opened the scoring in the 18th minute from the penalty spot, and then doubled his side's lead 19 minutes later after being played through on goal. He then completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time with another well taken finish.
The hat-trick took Guirassy's tally for the season to nine goals in just seven appearances for club and country. The 28 year old joined Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart this past summer and has made a spectacular start to life at the Westfalenstadion.
Serhou Guirassy and Guinea will be in action against Ethiopia again on Tuesday in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Also in action on Saturday was Gregor Kobel, although he wasn't able to help Switzerland end their poor run of form. Switzerland were beaten by Serbia 2-0, with an own goal from Nico Elvedi and a goal from Aleksandar Mitrović proving to be the difference between the two sides.
