Seven South American young stars Dortmund should keep tabs on
MatĂas Acevedo (16, CAM, Racing):
Even though an attacking midfielder is not a glaring need at this point, Julian Brandt's recent poor form and Gio Reyna's seemingly endless cycle of injuries might be a good enough excuse to name one CAM in this list. With Justin Lerma coming to the club in 2026, why not double-dip in the same position for another young and eye-catching creative weapon? That name could be MatĂas Acevedo from Racing Club.
Despite being a central attacking midfielder in essence, Acevedo can play in different parts of the offensive front, either as a left or right midfielder. MatĂas likes cutting on the inside of the pitch to his right foot while finding spaces for chance-creation. His strongest quality is his dribbling as he excels in small spaces, sometimes dragging two or more defenders. His dribbling may come off as over-confident at times, however.
As he is only 16 years old, it is hard to predict how much it would cost to bring Acevedo to the Westfalenstadion. Additionally, he would also require a few more years of development in his home country before reaching 18 and coming to Europe. Despite that, MatĂas is a very entertaining player to watch, and he could add some spiciness to BVB's young ranks.
