Sink or Swim: Who will thrive and who might struggle under Niko Kovač

Managerial changes always involve personnel shakeups, which benefit some and detriment others. But how will Niko Kovač’s leadership affect the current squad?

In his previous jobs, new trainer Niko Kovac has been notorious for his strict coaching style and difficulty in getting along with senior players and club officials alike. Still, this change in mentality might inspire the best out of some. With the talent at his disposal at Borussia Dortmund, I think we can expect a high intensity brought to the pitch and compact defensive structures, should squad depth allow it. If Kovač's system works, then he'll be looking to salvage the club's season and, in doing so, qualify for Europe.

In training, Kovac is known to be a strict, no-nonsense manager. While I like seeing familiar faces, I’m not so naïve to think nepotism can save this club anymore.
