Six BVB Academy Talents to Watch Closely

In the aging period of Borussia Dortmund, youthfulness will be a necessity in the coming years. Time to have a look at a list of some of the most exciting talents.

Haven't seen as much as I would have liked, but he has impressed. The Italian U17 captain Reggiani is an intelligent and mature defender who operates well when he acts off others and is more reserved. He covers well for aggressive defenders, as his positioning when covering is great, and he shows good confidence and composure to read the situation and make a correct following decision, either sweeping, picking out a pass, or shielding, in which he does very well.

When he senses opportunity, he is not scared to step in and apply a more front-footed approach, yet he does this in a more methodical sense as well, only doing it when reading triggers. He prioritizes challenges with his legs (as opposed to his upper body), which I like as it makes him less prone to getting spun when getting touch tight. Reggiani shows confidence stepping into play, often carrying and linking well with others, which is refreshing from the usual bulldozer-carry CBs. His touch and control are vital to this.

I haven't seen as much of his passing, but I have full confidence in him in this regard. He already has many of the necessary behaviours in his game. Not sure how his pathway will go, but again, game time will likely be essential, especially in the correct environment.
