The Jobe saga: What's Real and What's Not

Jobe Bellingham arrived from Sunderland in the Summer for a fee of around 32 million euros, and already there are reports of him being unhappy and wanting a move away. Now, the question is just how much truth is there to those claims?

A relatively slow start to the season for the highly anticipated signing of Jobe Bellingham has now sparked up a few questions among Dortmund fans. Having played only 186 minutes out of a possible 540, fans would've expected a bit more from the signing, as the club campaigned for Jobe all summer, becoming the club's second most expensive signing and a player the club was chasing heavily before the CWC.

Reports emerged that after Borussia Dortmund faced off against St. Pauli, Jobe was subbed off at halftime, and tempers flared. According to ESPN, Mark Bellingham went into a restricted area to have a couple of words with sporting director Sebastian Kehl about the substitution. Kehl reportedly told BILD that, "the active area is and stays restricted for players, coaches and officials, not families or agents. That won't happen again. That's what we've clearly told all the parties involved."

After the incident with Mark Bellingham, rumors emerged that Jobe was reportedly looking for a move away from Dortmund, despite only signing in the Summer. Combining those rumors with the lack of playing time, it all adds fuel to the fire of this "saga."

Reports from BILD recently seem to say otherwise regarding Jobe, reporting that Jobe often does extra training sessions, which goes a long way with the Dortmund bosses. Bild has also noted that a conversation between the player and Hans-Joachim Watzke took place, where the main takeaway was that the player's time will come, and he needs to keep calm.

After reading multiple reports on the topic, it seems there is truth to both sides of the story, but a move away from Jobe Bellingham seems almost incomprehensible. Having only just arrived in Dortmund and going from playing in the second tier of English football to playing in the Bundesliga for one of the most widely recognized and highly regarded clubs, it would be silly to think a player doesn't need time to settle. This is also a player whose last name carries an immense amount of weight at the club. Given Jude's outstanding career with the Black and Yellows before his move to Real Madrid, this could add a lot of pressure to the player. It is important to remember that this isn't the same player, and with time, Jobe will write his own story for Borussia Dortmund.
