Before the end of the season, it seemed Julian Brandt was headed out the door, but recently it has been reported that he wants to stay here at Dortmund. According to Sky Germany, Brandt said:

"At the moment, I don't have any other plans."

The big question here is, what is the best decision for both parties?

Rumors have been swirling of potential transfers for the Black and Yellows. The two biggest names being discussed are Jobe Bellingham and Rayan Cherki. Reports from Bild have stated that Borussia Dortmund seem to be ready to spend 30 million euros on Jobe Bellingham, as BVB want to restart negotiations to sign Cherki. The deal with Cherki will be challenging to pull off, given the raised transfer fee and John Textor's reluctance to a Cherki move to Dortmund.

With Jobe and Cherki being seen as hot topics in Dortmund, if these transfers are to go through, it would be difficult for Julian Brandt to find minutes in this Dortmund squad. Jobe, who is being seen as a priority signing and the club wants to give him a significant role in Dortmund, will add depth to the midfield, which already boasts players who performed well this season.

Cherki is another player who was brought in, potentially pushing Brandt out of the squad. The Frenchman, who has scored eight goals and 11 assists, making him the top provider in the league, would make him a comfortable starter in Dortmund. This could all prove to cause trouble for Brandt and the club, as his wages would be unnecessary to the club and force Brandt to continue his career elsewhere.

A Julian Brandt exit and bringing in the likes of Bellingham and Cherki would be a huge statement for Borussia Dortmund. This past season was a complete rollercoaster, but with a strong end to the season Dortmund should look to build on that, and make some statements in the summer, that show they aren't just trying to take part in the Bundesliga, but rather win it and to be able to say they are up there with the elite european clubs in the Champions League.
