Before the Club World Cup next month, there will be a flurry of International matches in early June. Some of these have consequence, while others are mere friendlies. What’s concerning, is how close many of these games are to the Club World Cup. This could hurt Niko Kovač’s planning for the first-of-it’s-kind tournament.
That being said, it’s still an impressive feat to be representing one’s country, and it’s an accolade that should be celebrated. With that in mind, here are the twelve Borussia Dortmund Players called up:
Germany – 6 – six total players were called up to the DFB, four players for the Senior Squad, and two for Germany’s U19’s. The senior squad members include Karim Adeyemi, Waldemar Anton, Pascal Groß, and Felix Nmecha. These players will compete in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals against Portugal, then will subsequently Spain or France in either the Championship match, or the 3rd place match.
The youngsters called up to Germany are Kjell Wätjen and Amulgera Kabar, who will be part of Germany’s U19 European Championships squad. They are set to face the Netherlands, England, and Norway in the Group Stage.
Algeria – 1 – Ramy Bensebaini will return to the Algerian National Team to play Friendly matches against Sweden and Rwanda.
Switzerland – 1 – Gregor Kobel will join the Swiss team as the number one between the sticks. He will surely be adjusted to the time zones of North America ahead of the Club World Cup, since Switzerland will be playing Friendlies against both Mexico and the United States.
Türkiye – 1 – Salih Özcan will be following a similar path to Gregor Kobel, as Turkiye has Friendlies scheduled against both Mexico and the United States as well.
Norway – 1 – Julian Ryerson will join the Norwegian National Team for important World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Estonia.
Austria – 1 – Marchel Sabitzer has been called up to the Austrian Team for World Cup Qualifiers against Romania and San Marino.
Sweden – 1 – BVB’s newest addition, Daniel Svensson, will be playing for Sweden in Friendlies against Hungary and Ramy Bensebaini’s Algeria.
