Three takeaways from Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Werder Bremen

What seemed to be the first win of 2025 became another match where Dortmund overcomplicated themselves. The winless run continues with a draw that looked more like a defeat.

Manager has changed, but Dortmund still looks the same

Even after Sahin's departure after the Bologna defeat, the squad still looks shaken. Some players seem to have completely lost confidence, and the team still tends to overcomplicate games. Once again, against Bremen, when the match looked under control, a 0.04xG shot by Bittencourt changed the momentum, and BVB succumbed to the Green-and-Whites' pressure.

Independent of who the manager is on the bench, Dortmund needs to change more than one thing if it wants to turn this ship around and still accomplish something this season. The players need to make fewer mistakes, and a new manager and a long-term project are imperative to the future. However, the club's structure, which put the team in this position in the first place with poor decisions, should take responsibility and remodel its processes.
