Niko Kovac is trying
It's hard to take any positives from yesterday's defeat but one thing's for sure and that is the Croatian is trying to work with what he has. In a similar fashion to our win against Sporting, Kovac is implementing the basics once again in terms of playing out wide and getting bodies in the box waiting for the cross.
There were moments early on in the first half at Bochum where Pascal Gross made the same deep runs but this time, the plan did not come to fruition unfortunately. One can only make the necessary assessments of Kovac once the 53-year-old has all the tools he needs, but will the club stick to him should they miss out on Champions League qualification? Speaking after the match, he had this to say:
""Of course we played a good game in the Champions League, but the important thing is to be able to hold our own again after three days and to have the necessary self-confidence to pull out games like this in the Bundesliga.""Kovac said after the game
