Three Takeaways from Borussia Dortmund's Lacklustre 1-1 draw against LOSC Lille

Kovač's men grew less threatening as the game went on, and a blend of personnel issues and frail in-game management eventually led to the group conceding a deflating equalizer.

Gittens-Adeyemi is the sensible UCL wing pairing

I have no doubts people will read that sub-title and scoff. But, we have to face the facts of the poor situation that BVB is in. These two simply have to be the wing pairing in any further knock-out stage games. Beier being shoehorned isn't working, and I don't even think Kovač knows who Duranville is.

Neither of the pairing showed much to praise them on, aside from Adeyemi's delightful finish. Yet, they still show signs of the threat within. Gittens picked it up in some great areas and showed glimpses of the carrying that made us all fall in love early in the season. Adeyemi's freakish athleticism is undeniable and is honestly vital for a side with no real offensive identity, making individual quality and transition the provider of all goals. Gittens just lacked some end product (although he had a nice ball for Guirassy), while Adeyemi again showed a lack of efficiency in his attacking game.

Gittens needs to find his confidence again while simultaneously trying to expand that final third armory, making him a multi-tool forward that provides a constant threat in G/A. Adeyemi needs to re-develop the sharpness and clinicalness that was showcased before his injury, particularly in his hat-trick against Celtic. Undisputedly, both have had worries recently, but this is what knock-out football is all about. Until we seem to have some real attacking creativity and an understood ideology, these two will have to be the stand-outs in transitional play/individual quality reliance.
