Dortmund needs to rethink their midfield

Borussia Dortmund's midfield dynamic this season has been a nightmare for any given manager at the helm. Mainly due to performance-related issues, the balance in the most critical area of the pitch in the modern game is in jeopardy with the current pieces. More specifically, Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Brandt.
While Marcel Sabitzer has been having problems adapting to his new role as the number six in the absence of Felix Nmecha, Julian Brandt hardly resembles the player he once was for Borussia Dortmund. It might sound like a repetitive topic, but these players need to perform up to the part that has been given to them in a club of the size of Dortmund. With both of their contracts coming close to an end, Sebastian Kehl — if he is still the sporting director in the near future — will have important decisions to make in that area sooner rather than later.
