Three Takeaways from Dortmund's statement 3-nil win against Sporting

The Black-and-Yellows, in a surprising fashion, beat Sporting Lisbon in Portugal by 3-nil and took a huge step toward the round of 16.

Julian Brandt is some football player when confident

In the past few weeks, BVB fans have shown Julian Brandt a lot of feelings, but unfortunately, not the good kind. Indeed, Dortmund's new number 10 has been criticized relatively, and this is justified due to his poor performances this season. However, I cannot stress enough how good Brandt can be when confident and in sync with his best game.

That happened in that second half against Sporting, where Brandt provided two pinpoint assists to his teammates. So, even in a year that he has not showcased his best skillset, Brandt still sums up four goals and ten assists in all competitions, from which he assisted five times in the Champions League solely. If he is putting these numbers in a bad moment, can you imagine if he actually performs consistently?

Therefore, it would be a mistake to discard Julian Brandt so quickly once he still produces key goals and assists for this Dortmund team. Although he is undeniably underperforming in this campaign, we all know the type of player he can be with the necessary confidence.
