This past Saturday, Borussia Dortmund partnered up with Soccer Street USA to host the third edition of the Times Square Cup, where hundreds of kids from New York had the chance to play in one of the most iconic spots in the city that never sleeps. Over 350 boys and girls ages 10-18 qualified for the event, having a unique opportunity to participate in a soccer tournament held in the middle of Times Square.

Following BVB's run to the UEFA Champions League final and qualification for the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup, which will be held in the US, they took this social project to a larger audience. Since the Club World Cup final takes place at the MetLife Stadium, there is nothing more suitable than Dortmund lending its colors to the city where dreams are made of. And every kid's dreams of playing on the big stage finally came true this past weekend for all those involved.

The Times Square Cup consisted of a 4v4 format competition, where the high-paced and high-scoring matches were the main attraction. The participants were divided into teams and played with each other from day to night until the cup winner was decided. As the event was free and open to the public, people casually walking the streets of New York could come and appreciate local kids, from the Bronx to Harlem, playing in the Black and Yellow jerseys.

"The main goal of the Times Square Cup is to elevate our kids' expectations of what's possible. So often, we put a ceiling on what kids can achieve and what they think they can achieve; this is an inspirational event," said Lawrence Cann, founder of Soccer Street USA.
