Chelsea is looking to strengthen their offence this Summer, and Dortmund's Jamie Gittens (20) remains a top candidate for the blues. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has been in contact with Gittens over the last few weeks over a transfer, and have agreed on personal terms in a long term contract until 2032.

Both clubs have been in contact and are aware of the player's wish to play the in blue next season, but despite interest in both clubs, no agreement has been reached.

Gittens had an impressive run during the first half of the season, where he thrived under Sahin. His flashy style of play and stellar appearances against Frankfurt and Bayern woke up interest from many top clubs, specially from England.

Gittens started the season very strong, and thrived under Sahin's system, which heavily relied on individual qualities, but since Kovac took over the team, there has been a significant drop in Gittens' playtime and performance.

Kovac's system emphasizes defensive stability and smooth transitions, which have affected Jamie's play style. The player still has a contract until 2028 and has no release clause for this summer, but Chelsea insists on signing the player.

So, what is really going on with Jamie Gittens' transfer to Chelsea?

According to BVB Expert Patrick Berger, Chelsea started negotiations with a €35M fee, which was quickly rejected by Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl and Managing Director Lars Ricken.

Chelsea quickly stepped up their offer with a €50M + €5M fee in a desperate effort to sign the Englishman for the Club World Cup, but this offer was quickly rejected too. BVB value Gittens at €65M and are not willing to lower the price.

On June 10th, the last day of the special transfer window, Gittens was spotted outside Dortmund offices, and later driving off in a rash manner from the training camp, showing signs of frustration. Negotiations are expected to continue in the Summer transfer window, as all parties want the deal to happen. Clubs are approaching an agreement, but as of now, Gittens will remain BVB player for the Club World Cup.
