It's been 13 years since Borussia Dortmund won the domestic double at the conclusion of the 2011-12 season. The Yellow and Black won their second consecutive Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal by beating Bayern Munich 5-2 in the final. It was the most successful season in BVB's history, with Jurgen Klopp at the helm.

Klopp used a total of 22 players that season, with Robert Lewandowski making 46 appearances in all competitions and scoring 30 goals. Shinji Kagawa also had a fantastic campaign, scoring 16 goals in all competitions in 42 appearances. The defense was anchored by Roman Weidenfeller, Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic, Marcel Schmelzer and Lukasz Piszczek.

Let's take a look at all 22 players who made at least one appearance during the double-winning season by BVB and see where are they now in the present day.

GK - Roman Weidenfeller

Roman Weidenfeller remained at Dortmund until his retirement after the 2017-18 season. Weidenfeller was the first-choice goalkeeper until 2015, when Roman Burki was brought in by new manager Thomas Tuchel, who replaced Jurgen Klopp.

After retirement, Weidenfeller became an international ambassador for the club. He's represented BVB in programs abroad, met with fan bases, and helped grow the brand worldwide.

GK - Mitchell Langerak

The backup goalie, Mitchell Langerak, left BVB after Jurgen Klopp's final season. He moved to Stuttgart and was there for three seasons. He found his success in Japan, playing for Nagoya Grampus from 2018 to 2024. He helped Nagoya win two J. League Cups in 2021 and 2024 before spending his final season of football back in Australia for the Melbourne Victory.

Langerak officially retired on July 10, 2025, transitioning into a coach at the Victory Academy Program. According to the Victory's official release, they see the former BVB goalkeeper as an asset to help shape the club's future.
