Borussia Dortmund will host Sporting CP on Wednesday in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout playoff. Last week, Borussia Dortmund secured an important away win, scoring three second-half goals thanks to the efforts of Serhou Guirassy, Pascal Groß, and Karim Adeyemi.

Dortmund displayed a shaky first half against the team atop Liga Portugal. Still, thanks to a series of adjustments at halftime, Niko Kovač’s men took a commanding lead that will be difficult for Sporting to overcome in front of the famous Yellow Wall.

Borussia Dortmund has been inconsistent, and the first leg remains new trainer Niko Kovač’s only win. So, Sporting will surely come out of the gates firing, as BVB should be wary of not becoming complacent ahead of this match.

Sporting is a club that has only lost twice domestically, with forty-one more goals scored than conceded. Their form away from home is nearly as flawless as is their home record, having actually scored more goals on the road. If Viktor Gyökeres is fit to start, then Dortmund will be forced to contend with a prolific striker who has found the net more times than in games he’s played this season.

Kovač's tenure had thusfar produced a stellar half against Sporting, but undewhelming performances in the Bundesliga. There have been promising signs, and fans will hope to see more on Wednesday. While Borussia Dortmund holds the advantage, Sporting can't be written off just yet, and the matchup is sure to entertain. Here's how to watch:
