Tullberg was involved with football at an early age. While he spent time as a professional player for Danish sides Grenaa IF, Randers Freja, AGF, and Reggina, with a short stint at the Scottish club Hearts, few remember him from his playing career. Perhaps his most notable achievement as a player came from an acrobatic stoppage-time winner against Brøndby IF, which was later named Danish Goal of the Year. Have a look here.

Tullberg has spent most of his career managing youth teams. He worked extensively with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, first as the assistant coach of the U23 squad and then, for three years, in charge of the U19s. After his time in Oberhausen, Tullberg returned to Denmark and AGF, where he managed their U19s for a year before becoming an assistant with Vendsyssel FF, a senior team in the Danish 1st Division, the second tier of Danish football.
