Leading up to the 2019-2020 season, Mike Tullberg was named manager of Dortmund’s reserve team, which typically competes in the 3. Liga. Following a successful season with the reserves, Tullberg was moved into the role of U19 manager, where he led the squad to U19 Bundesliga glory in 2021 while taking them to subsequent finals in 2023 and 2024. While in charge of the U19s for Dortmund, Tullberg has achieved a staggering 2.43 points per game, equating to 102 matches, with 79 wins, 11 draws, and 12 losses.

On Wednesday morning, BVB announced that Mike Tullberg would be replacing Nuri Sahin as a caretaker. Borussia Dortmund held their first training session with Tullberg at the helm on Thursday morning, and it's been reported he’s brought both Daniel Rios and Patrick Fritsch along as his assistants, the same two from his U19 management team.
