What to Expect

This is Borussia Dortmund, so prepare to expect the unexpected. Problems have mired this squad since the beginning of the season, and a temporary interim coach will doubtfully solve everything. Sahin might be gone, but with no changes in upper management, Dortmund’s problems will not suddenly be fixed themselves.
Tullberg is a youth specialist at heart and has worked extensively with homegrown BVB players like Jamie Gittens, Tom Rothe, and Yousouffa Moukoko. Therefore, he is expected to inspire the youngest among Dortmund’s senior ranks: players like Karim Adeyemi, Gio Reyna, and the aforementioned Jamie Gittens, as well as up-and-coming players like Kjell Wätjen, Filippo Mane, Cole Campbell, and more.
What we can expect should be stability, a system that might indeed look like it’s back to the basics. Nuri Sahin tried so many things, and Saturday will likely be something new yet again. Butt Tullberg brings positive energy and fresh concepts to the table. He might be a youth specialist, but that doesn’t mean he can’t manage a senior squad.
A win against Werder Bremen would certainly be nice, but it’s not something we should expect. Stability takes time, and there is much uncertainty at Borussia Dortmund right now. Mike Tillberg should not be chastised should Dortmund fall to a fifth consecutive defeat either. Dortmund’s Sahin experiment failed, and Tillberg has answered the call, albeit temporarily. He deserves credit for where he is and the opportunity in front of him: coaching our beloved Borussia Dortmund.
