Borussia Dortmund keen on keeping Achraf Hakimi beyond the summer

Borussia Dortmund want Real Madrid loanee Achraf Hakimi to stay at the club beyond the summer, but the decision ultimately rests in the player’s hands.
After moving to Borussia Dortmund on loan 18 months ago, Achraf Hakimi has established himself as one of the best young full-backs in the world. The Moroccan international has cemented his spot in the Dortmund starting XI, and has been one of the team’s biggest attacking threats.
With his loan deal due to expire at the end of the season, rumours have been rife about his future. Real Madrid are keen for him to return to the Spanish capital. But Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing him on a permanent transfer, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
Hakimi told the newspaper that he is happy to be at Borussia Dortmund. But he added that he hasn’t made a decision on his club for next season.
"“I am improving in many different aspects. I’m gradually learning, and I still don’t see myself at the end of my development.”When asked whether he feels more like a Madridista or a Borusse, Hakimi said, “Both! My heart is divided between Madrid and Dortmund.”“It is still six months until the summer, there are still a lot of games. What I can say is that right now I am very happy to be at Borussia Dortmund. I feel very comfortable.”"
Hakimi’s value has skyrocketed during his time at the Westfalenstadion, and even if Real Madrid do decide to sell him, he certainly won’t come cheap.
The Black and Yellows do have a matching right for Hakimi, which means that they will have to be informed of any other offers Real Madrid receive for the full-back. Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in a move for Hakimi, but his words suggest that he wouldn’t be too keen on swapping Dortmund for Bavaria.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with two potential replacements for Hakimi this week, with Lukas Klostermann and Max Aarons thought to be potential targets.
