February 04: Away to Werder Bremen (DFB Pokal)

Borussia Dortmund then travel to Bremen for the third round of the DFB Pokal. Florian Kohfeldt’s side have been this season’s surprise package for all the wrong reasons. They are currently locked in a relegation battle, and their season has been severely blighted by injuries.

But as they proved when the two sides met in the Bundesliga in September, Werder Bremen cannot be taken lightly.

Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen also met in the third round of the DFB Pokal last season. And it was Werder Bremen who tasted victory on that occasion, winning the penalty shootout after the two sides played out a 3-3 draw in 120 minutes.

Winning the DFB Pokal will be high on Borussia Dortmund’s priority list this season. And Lucien Favre will be hoping that his team can get the job done in 90 minutes against Werder Bremen.
