Borussia Dortmund: BILD refute Erling Haaland exit claims
By Tushar Bahl
Erling Haaland’s Borussia Dortmund release clause of 75 million euros only comes into effect in 2022, and not this summer, BILD have once again confirmed.
Spanish newspaper Marca claimed earlier today that Real Madrid are ready to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer, due to a release clause of 75 million euros in his contract. Several other outlets in England and Spain have run similar stories in recent weeks, linking the Norwegian international to the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus
Now BILD have once again vehemently refuted those claims by confirming that Haaland’s release clause will not be active this summer, and it only comes into effect in the summer of 2022. This follows reports from SportBILD and the Athletic, who said in January that Haaland’s release clause cannot be activated this summer.
BILD add that if clubs want to sign Haaland this summer, they will have to pay well above his market value, which currently stands at 72 million euros. The Norwegian international has over four years remaining on his Borussia Dortmund contract, and he is not thinking of leaving the club anytime soon.
Haaland only joined Borussia Dortmund in January for 20 million euros, rejecting interest from the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and RB Salzburg. He has made a stunning start to life at the Westfalenstadion, scoring 12 goals in his first 11 appearances for the club.
Haaland recently revealed that he feels right at home at Borussia Dortmund, and wants to help the club win titles in the coming years.
