Borussia Dortmund will be without Marco Reus for next Tuesday’s crunch clash against title rivals Bayern Munich, and there is a chance that the club captain won’t play again this season.

Marco Reus has been out since early February after suffering an adductor injury during Borussia Dortmund’s DFB Pokal third round loss to Werder Bremen. Lucien Favre revealed after Saturday’s 4-0 win over Schalke 04 that the Dortmund captain has not yet trained with the team, but did not offer a time-frame for his return.

Now, German tabloid BILD claim that Reus will miss next week’s game against Bayern Munich, and there is a possibility that he may not be fit to play again this season. Reus is currently training individually, but still has significant complaints in his right foot. He has also been working with his personal physiotherapist.

Being without Reus for the six pointer against Bayern, as well as the business end of the season would be a big blow for Borussia Dortmund. Despite what has been a stop-start campaign for Reus, he has 12 goals and seven assists to his name in 26 appearances in all competitions this season.

While Reus could still be out for a while, Borussia Dortmund will be bolstered by the return of Axel Witsel and Emre Can, who are training with an increased workload ahead of this weekend’s game against Wolfsburg, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Meanwhile, Gio Reyna is back in training after suffering a training injury just minutes before last weekend’s game against Schalke. Defender Dan Axel Zagadou has already been ruled out for the rest of the season.
