Emre Can impresses at center-back

Emre Can filled in for Mats Hummels at centre-back, as the latter served his one game suspension for accumulating five yellow cards, and proved he is more than capable of playing there. Can has been very impressive since joining Dortmund, and he put in another dominant performance this time at centre-back.

Knowing that Dortmund have another element of cover with Can able to play there gives them extra security next season.

Although he’s not the tallest, especially in the center back position Can was an absolute beast in the air today. Winning nearly every heading challenge he went into, Can’s aggressiveness suits the centre-back role perfectly.

Combined with his commitment and determination, he was very effective snuffing out any Hertha attacks that came his way. On top of that, he also scored the decisive goal with a composed first time finish off a great passing play.
