Marco Reus back in training

After being out of action for six months, Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus finally made his long awaited return to training today. The 31 year old was greeted with applause from his teammates on his return. He participated in parts of team training, before continuing to train individually for the second half of the session. Over the next few days, Reus will increase his workload as he works on getting back to full fitness ahead of the start of the new season.

Borussia Dortmund were without Thomas Meunier in training today, as he suffered muscle tear in his thigh during the 11-2 win over Austria Wien last week. The Belgian international is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks.

Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga opener on September 19

Borussia Dortmund will begin their Bundesliga season with their home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, September 19 (kick-off at 18:30 local time), the DFL has revealed.

The winners of the previous season play in the first match of the new campaign.
