Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Reinier from Real Madrid, with the attacking midfielder joining Die Schwarzgelben on a two year long loan.

Borussia Dortmund have been dominating transfer headlines across the globe this summer, despite the club’s lack of activity. It is in fact this lack of activity that has had many fans and pundits alike talking. Of course, considering the current state of affairs across the globe, no one could have expected Dortmund to enter the market guns (wallets) blazing. Dortmund have taken a calculated approach that so far has looked to yield solid dividends.

The club opened their transfer dealings with the signing of Thomas Meunier as a defensive replacement for the outgoing Achraf Hakimi. In addition to Meunier, Dortmund saw to it that the protracted deal for Jude Bellingham crossed the finish line, tying up yet another English starlet to a long term contract. We’ve already been able to get a glimpse of both of Dortmund’s new additions during pre-season friendly matches.

The biggest headline of the transfer window has of course been Dortmund’s move to make sure Jadon Sancho will be wearing Black and Yellow for at least another year. Sancho was allegedly in negotiations with Manchester United, but the Premier League club failed to meet Dortmund’s deadline of August 10th. Both Aki Watzke and Michael Zorc have made it clear that Sancho will now stay for the 2020/21 season, which will be viewed as one of the club’s most cherished victories this window.

Despite claims that Borussia Dortmund will not be signing anyone else this summer, rumors began to surface linking the club with Real Madrid’s Reinier. Lo and behold, these rumors turned into reality soon after. Following in the footsteps of Achraf Hakimi, the talented Brazilian has joined BVB on a two year loan, with no reported option to buy. Reinier joins Dortmund’s retinue of talented youngsters, and will certainly offer Lucien Favre an additional attacking option to dispense with, so let’s take a look at Reinier’s career so far, who he is, and where he may fit into Dortmund’s plans for the upcoming season.
