Two more pre-season friendlies await Borussia Dortmund on Friday, as they go up against SC Paderborn and VfL Bochum.

Borussia Dortmund will have another double header of friendly games on Friday this week as they are scheduled to play both Paderborn and Bochum. It will be another split squad game with the games currently set to be played one after the other. Although there were doubts about the Bochum game taking place, Michael Zorc has now confirmed that it will go ahead as scheduled.

VfL Bochum currently have 6 team members quarantining after a positive Coronavirus test in their camp. All follow-up tests have been negative with the final round of testing to be done on Thursday.

The two games on Friday will also mark the official season opening for Borussia Dortmund, although it will be done through a digital programme. Both games, as well as the season opening will be live streamed on the club’s YouTube and Facebook channels. The Paderborn game kicks off at 15:30 CEST, while the Bochum will begin at 18:00 CEST.

With the game set to go on as planned, we will likely see the squad split up into relatively even starting XI’s. It will be interesting to see if Lucien Favre makes any tweaks to his system after last weekend’s defeat to Feyenoord.

Borussia Dortmund will still likely be without some key players such as Marco Reus, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Thomas Meunier. Dortmund fans could get their first glimpse of Reinier on Friday as he integrates more and more into training.

Once again all eyes will be on standouts Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham as they look to continue their strong performances. Unless Reus makes it back in time for the start of the Bundesliga, which seems like a long shot, Reyna has been one of the standout performers of the pre-season so far, scoring four goals in just three appearances.

Next. Six fixtures that could define Borussia Dortmund’s 2020/21 season. dark

Bellingham has also been very impressive and has put himself in contention as well. Borussia Dortmund fans will be eager to see both of those players continue to improve as we edge closer to the start of the season.
