As we inch closer to the start of the new Bundesliga campaign, Lucien Favre faces some tough calls on how Borussia Dortmund will line up this season.

Michael Zorc and co. have built a very strong Borussia Dortmund squad, with a great mix of talented youngsters, experienced campaigners and outspoken leaders in the dressing room. Dortmund not only have great individual quality, but excellent depth in nearly every department. Now its up to Lucien Favre to use the tools at his disposal and lead the Black and Yellows to the Bundesliga title.

Borussia Dortmund have made three signings this summer, bringing in Thomas Meunier, Jude Bellingham and Reinier Jesus. There have been two first-team departures with Achraf Hakimi and Mario Götze both leaving. But the majority of the squad remains the same as last season.

There has been a lot of talk about what system Lucien Favre will use this season, with rumours suggesting that we could see the return of the back four. But after poor pre-season performances, the Swiss tactician will likely stick with the three chain defence that proved to be successful in the second half of last season.

With that in mind, we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up for the upcoming season in a 3-4-2-1 formation.
