Borussia Dortmund begin their UEFA Champions League campaign next week, and will be confident of navigating through the group stage with relative ease.

The UEFA Champions League group stage draw saw Borussia Dortmund get Zenit Saint Petersburg, SS Lazio and Club Brugge – three sides that should represent favourable opponents, especially compared to Barcelona and Inter Milan in last season’s group of death. The Black and Yellows are favourites to top their group going into the first matchday of the Champions League group stage.

But there are no easy games in the world’s biggest club competition, and Lucien Favre’s side will certainly have to be at their best if they are to qualify for the round of 16.

All four teams in Borussia Dortmund’s group have a number of quality players in their ranks. So we could be in for some very entertaining and hard fought contests over the next three months.

Here we take a closer look at the three sides that Borussia Dortmund will have to overcome in order to qualify for the knockout rounds.
