Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich enjoyed dominant wins on matchday five of the 2020/21 Bundesliga season, but RB Leipzig managed to stay top following a comeback win.

Borussia Dortmund ease to Revierderby win

Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win over local rivals Schalke 04 on Saturday thanks to goals from Manuel Akanji, Erling Haaland and Mats Hummels. The Black and Yellows dominated the Ruhr derby right from minute one. And despite a goalless first half, Schalke simply could not cope with the relentless pressure in the end.

Manuel Akanji, who was making his return to the team after recovering from COVID-19, gave Borussia Dortmund the lead. Erling Haaland then chipped home the second after some good link-up play with Jadon Sancho, before Mats Hummels headed home the third to seal the win.

Lewandowski hits perfect hat-trick in Bayern rout

Bayern Munich continued their excellent run of form with a 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick to give the Bavarians a three goal lead, before Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala sealed the rout after coming off the bench.

The result helped Bayern stay in second place, one point behind RB Leipzig who had to overcome a tricky test against Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
