Axel Witsel (5/10)

Witsel had another ordinary game as he failed to exert his influence against his former club. He did the job that was asked of him defensively, but what was missing was the initiative to pull the strings in attack. Instead, it was more of the slow and laboured passing that we have seen far too often from the Belgian international.

Whether he is following Lucien Favre’s instructions, or he just struggles to conduct play at a quicker tempo, it is really hurting the team’s build-up.

Mahmoud Dahoud (7/10)

Dahoud’s impressive performance against Schalke helped him earn his place in the starting XI tonight. And he put in another committed display, showing great creativity and desire to make things happen from midfield. He distributed the ball well, was robust in his duels and also came close with a shot from distance before being subbed off for Thorgan Hazard.
