Thomas Meunier (6/10)

Meunier did not have much to do defensively and saw a lot of the ball going forward. While he did deliver a couple of inviting crosses, his impact was largely limited.

Manuel Akanji (6.5/10)

Akanji had everything in control defensively, and delivered some inviting long forward passes. He should have opened the scoring just before half time, but his shot from close range fizzed wide of goal.

Mats Hummels (9/10)

Hummels stepped up when his team needed him to, scoring two crucial goals in the second half which gave Borussia Dortmund the win. The centre-back also played some delightful long balls and created an excellent chance in the first half which Jadon Sancho failed to bury. He didn’t put a foot wrong defensively either.

Hummels did have to go off with a hamstring injury late in the game, but hopefully its not a serious one.

Felix Passlack (6.5/10)

Passlack had another solid game and kept the dangerous Ritsu Doan quiet. He was full of energy going forward, but wasn’t able to cause too much trouble to the Arminia Bielefeld back-line despite some good link-up play with the forward players.
