Thomas Delaney will miss Borussia Dortmund’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt after suffering a back injury against Lazio.

Thomas Delaney played 90 minutes on Wednesday against Lazio and put in a solid shift as Borussia Dortmund secured their place in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. But he will be unavailable for the away game against Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend after injuring his back, Borussia Dortmund have announced.

Delaney joins Thomas Meunier, Emre Can, Erling Haaland and Mats Hummels on the treatment table at Borussia Dortmund. Haaland has already been ruled out until January, while Meunier is also unavailable for the time being. In a statement, Der BVB also said that a decision on whether Hummels can play on Saturday will be made shortly before the game. Hummels injured his foot against Lazio, but said after the game that he should be back on the pitch very soon.

Ruhr Nachrichten report that both Hummels and Can received treatment at Borussia Dortmund’s Brackel training centre on Thursday. They add that Raphael Guerreiro is also a doubt going into this weekend’s game. The Portuguese international was taken off at the hour mark against Lazio after he complained again about the muscle injury which caused him to miss the game against FC Köln last weekend.

Head coach Lucien Favre will likely provide an update on the status of the injured players during tomorrow’s pre-match press conference.

The growing injury list will certainly be a big concern to those in charge at Borussia Dortmund with six more games to come between now and the end of the month.
