Schalke sink further as Leverkusen go second
Schalke suffered their seventh defeat of the season, as Bayer Leverkusen cruised to a 3-0 win which helped them go second in the table. An own goal from Malik Thiaw gave Peter Bosz’ side the lead, before Julian Baumgartlinger and Patrik Schick made sure of the win in the second half.
The Royal Blues had a chance to claw back into the game just moments before Leverkusen’s third. But Steven Skrzybski’s penalty was well saved by Lukas Hradecky.
Schalke have now gone 26 games without a win and already find themselves four points behind 15th placed FC Köln.
Stuttgart continue dream start to the season
VfB Stuttgart moved up to eighth place in the standings with a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen. A brace from Silas Wamangituka was enough to seal a hard fought win over Werder Bremen, who are now winless in seven games.
Hoffenheim close out the match-day on Monday at home to Augsburg.
