Previous Meeting: Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Zenit St. Petersburg
The two teams last met on matchday two of the Champions League group stage at the Westfalenstadion. Borussia Dortmund dominated the game as Zenit were happy to sit back and play on the counter. The Russian champions defended with great resolve for the majority of the contest, but their resistance was finally broken in the 78th minute when Jadon Sancho struck home the opener after Thorgan Hazard was fouled inside the box.
Erling Haaland then sealed the win in the 91st minute after being played through on goal by a clever flick-on from Jude Bellingham.
The win helped Borussia Dortmund open their account in the Champions League group stage. And they will be hoping for another comfortable win over Zenit on Tuesday, which would seal top spot in Group F.
