Borussia Dortmund player ratings from win over Zenit: Bellingham shines as Piszczek and Witsel find the net
By Tushar Bahl
Lukasz Piszczek (7/10)
Even at the age of 35, Lukasz Piszczek is as dependable as ever. Playing as the right centre-back, Piszczek had things under control for the majority of the game. Azmoun caused him a few problems in the first half, but Piszczek looked assured at all times. The former Poland international then reacted quickly to slot home Borussia Dortmund’s equaliser in the second half, which set the tone for the comeback win.
Mats Hummels (7/10)
It was another rock-solid display from Mats Hummels, who put out many fires for his side against Zenit. He was unlucky with the deflection for the opener, but after that he dealt with everything that the Zenit forwards threw at him. Hummels also sprayed some lovely forward passes, and his blocked shot led to Piszczek’s equaliser.
Emre Can (6/10)
Emre Can was largely reliable defensively, but his main focus was to drive the ball forward. He succeeded in doing that on numerous occasions, although Zenit’s parked bus made it difficult for him to pick out his teammates in dangerous positions.
