Midfield: Axel Witsel, Jude Bellingham

The one part of the lineup that needs to see the biggest change in 2021 is the Borussia Dortmund midfield. Over the past year, they have grown static and passive and have struggled to make any real impact offensively. There has been very little creativity stemming from the midfield recently and that is a massive factor in why Dortmund have struggled so much.

Borussia Dortmund need to inject some creativity into the midfield, that means one of Julian Brandt, Jude Bellingham or Mahmoud Dahoud should be starting in central midfield consistently. Bellingham is questionable going into the game, but if he is fit, he is going to be the first choice starter.

Starting alongside Bellingham/Brandt will likely be one of Axel Witsel, Emre Can and Thomas Delaney. Despite Axel Witsel’s recent struggles, he is likely to be in the starting XI. Delaney could also be an option, having impressed so far this season.
